Making New Habits

A Word from Pastor Daniel

Let us hold on to the confession of our hope without wavering, since he who promised is faithful. And let us consider one another in order to provoke love and good works, not neglecting to gather together, as some are in the habit of doing, but encouraging each other, and all the more as you see the day approaching. (Hebrews 10:23-25)

According to research, it takes an average of 66 days to form a habit. Think about this, now — last Sunday marked 6 months to the day that we had to cancel in person small groups and worship. That’s way more than 66 days! As we have had to worship online and practice social distancing, let me challenge you, now that we are back in person, not to make a habit of not being part of your church family. If your health allows you, come back and join your church family in Life Groups and corporate worship. You and I need it more than we know. The believers in Hebrews 10 had made a habit of not gathering for worship and it affected their spiritual health. Jesus saved us and made us part of His family. We belong to one another and we need each other.

Now, I also want to say a word to many of you who, because of age and health reasons, can’t come back inside. Don’t beat yourself up over it. I’ve talked to many in our church, particularly many of our senior adults, who have shared that they feel bad about not coming back inside. This is a season in which we have operated out of love. That’s why we have invested more money into our online streaming, are working to put out more and more digital content, and are continuing our outdoor service. We don’t want any of our church family to put themselves at any unnecessary risk. We’re a family and we have to show grace and compassion to one another. We’ll be here ready to celebrate with you when you come back!
