History

On June 1, 1983, seeing the need for reaching a growing part of east Montgomery, the Montgomery Baptist Association purchased property on Taylor Road, and Eastern Hills Baptist Church voted to support a mission church to be located on that property.  Through funding by the Alabama Baptist Foundation, the Montgomery Baptist Association, Eastern Hills Baptist Church, and an anonymous donor, Taylor Road Baptist Church began as a mission on July 15, 1984, with 53 members led by pastor Joe Godfrey.  Because of its rapid growth and strong leadership, it was constituted as a church on March 23, 1985, with 105 members.

In the beginning, services were held in the Baptist Student Center trailer on the campus of AUM.  In April of 1986, the church moved its temporary location at the Baptist Student Center, to its permanent location at 1685 Taylor Road, just south of the I-85 interchange.

In 2004, Andy Hepburn was called as Taylor Road's second pastor.

Most recently in 2008, Taylor Road completed a building project that added a new 900 seat Worship Center, Fellowship Hall and Choir Suite.  The previous worship center facility built in 1986 was converted to be used as a Student Center at the same time.

Taylor Road is a cooperating member of the Montgomery Baptist Association, the Alabama Baptist State Convention and the Southern Baptist Convention.
